A word from the Beekeeper about quality honey:

All the honey we sell labeled "raw" or "cold-extracted" is just that -- raw honey.  Unfortunately, there is no uniform standard for raw honey in the United States so there is a lot of cooked honey out there that has been heated to 130, 140, and even 160 degrees.  Some of it is being sold as raw honey!  You could get third degree burns from something that hot.  Imagine what it does to the delicate floral enzymes present in the honey!

Among honest beekeepers the highest ambient temperature in summer is generally regarded as the maximum temperature permissible to still qualify as "raw".  We maintain our honey at the minimum possible temperature at all stages of extracting and bottling but at all times below 110 degrees F.  In the summer, when the honey is being extracted, no heat whatsoever is applied to the honey -- it is simply extracted, strained, and bottled for you.  In cold weather, some warming must be performed as the honey becomes rock-solid in the drum.  We use a special immersion heater from Italy which moves through the honey as it is warmed thereby not overheating any one area in the drum.

We do offer shelf stable honey as a service to small retailers who do not want crystallized honey on display but this essentially a SPECIAL ORDER ITEM and never says "raw" or "cold extracted" on the label.  We believe in truth-in-labeling!  Know your ingredients!  Know your farmer!  Eat Healthy!  Peace and Enjoy!!

Welcome to our Family Farm and Candle Studio!

We specialize in health-giving raw, natural honey directly from the beehive.
We are beekeepers! Our honeybees are kept with love, and we invite you to try our delicious RAW honey!!
In addition, we offer shelf-stable honey with the retailer in mind.

Take a look at our beautiful pure beeswax candles.  Each one is poured by hand.

All About Our Candles:

Our candles are all 100% beeswax -- even the white color wax is pure, albeit much more refined.  We use our own wax and also purchase from local beekeepers when our own stock runs low.

Everything that goes into our candles is pure and non irritating.  Great for allergy sufferers, sensitive noses, households with babies or other sensitive individuals.

All our wicking is 100% unbleached cotton braid.  No paper, no zinc, no weird components in the wicks.  Also no irritating added scents.  The smell of our candles is so sweet and comforting and the best part is it's all natural!!

Know what you are buying!!  Because of lax labeling laws and consistent lobbying by chemical candle companies, a candle may be labeled "beeswax" even if it contains as little as 10% beeswax, the balance probably being paraffin! Also be suspicious of labels simply stating "natural". If the label doesn't say "100% beeswax" or "pure beeswax", it almost certainly is NOT.

Paraffin is a hydrocarbon (that is, it's made from oil), therefore when you burn a paraffin candle you are scattering the hydrocarbons in the air which you are breathing, contributing to indoor air pollution.  According to Jeffrey May in his book, My House is Killing Me!, a paraffin jar candle burning in a home for as little as 60 hours will generate so much soot the room will have to be repainted (!).

Conversely, beeswax actually produces negative ions in the air, such as occur after a thunderstorm.  This is healthy for the human body. Compare the flame of a paraffin candle and a PURE BEESWAX as they burn.  Often the flames of synthetic candles are very jumpy and unsteady.  But note how steady and calming the beeswax candle's flame is.
